Emma and Lexi Jump to the Top
The Northern Ireland Working Hunter Association held their Spring Championship Show for horses on Sunday 25th April at Knockagh. With both ridden and working hunter classes being well supported, competition for the top spots was very tight. In the first championship of the day, Corinne Robb rode her small hunter Braeview Nemisis to top spot in the ridden hunter championship, with Ruth Wilson and Masserene Being Ernest filling reserve spot. The hotly contested cob championship was next to come under the watchful eye of Louise Daly and Lady Hopper-Cavandish. This time it was the turn of the lightweight Randalstown Grafton owned by Sam McAteer to clinch the tricolour over his heavyweight, Randalstown Limited Edition, partnered by his wife Sheila. The final Championship in the ridden ring allowed the riding horses to take centre stage. Again, Corinne Robb and Braeview Nemisis clinched the title with reserve going to the 2nd placed small riding horse, Homegrown Lexi partnered by Emma Jackson.
Large entries in the working hunter ensured that competition continued well into the afternoon, with some exciting jumping over a decorative and challenging course. In the championship, it was the winner of the Small Working Hunter class and the 80cms, Emma Jackson and Homegrown Lexi, who stepped up to the mark to take the Championship, with the winner of the 1m and 1.10m, Elaine McKenna and Amy B slotting into reserve.
In the final championship of the day, all 4 judges were unanimous in their decision to call forward the working hunter champions, Emma Jackson and Homegrown Lexi, as overall supreme horse of the show. Reserve was taken by Corinne Robb and Braeview Nemisis and 2nd reserve went to Elaine McKenna and Amy B.
The NIWHA would like to extend thanks to all those who helped on the day to make the show the success that it was and would also like to extend thanks to Glenvine Pet Crematorium for their generous sponsorship.
